Car trip Nainital via Lansdowne
Normally my trips are on my Royal Enfield but this time it was a four wheeler. For a biker it's bit less unsatisfying to do a trip in the hilly road on a car.
Day1:
------
Arya, Jitendra and myself
started our trip from Delhi to Lansdowne around 11:30 AM on 22nd Oct. It
was our 1st car trip in the north. We normally roam around Delhi and
NCR. It was our 1st unplanned/unprepared trip. We only know we will go
to Lansdowne and will decide there for the next destination. Bit excited
about such a trip.
While reaching Najibabad it's almost 8 PM. After that it's the hilly road waiting for us. We were bit worried as for Arya as he never drove car in hills before that and that to in winter night. By the time we approach the hills it was chilled outside. Luckily it was the moon day not fully though. We spent around 30 min after reaching half of the hill beneath the moon light and chilly wind from the uphills. Just missing the campfire and roasted chicken.
We reached Lansdowne around 9:30 PM and witnessed Dushera festival there. As we never booked hotels before so it took an hour to find a good budget hotel. Finally found one good hotel on the way to Tip n Top and having restaurant. Trip up to this was bit hectic as we follow the google map and it forced us to go through some village road for the sake of shortest path.
Day2:
-------
Next day morning started with tea and breakfast. We planned to visit the Lansdonwe and should start our journey before 12 Pm for Nainital. In the way we have also planned for Jim Corbet National park but after inquiry we came to know nothing can't be certain over phone so we thought of our next option Nainital.

After spending 30 mins there we thought of visit the Tip n Top which is the top point of lansdowne which is just 2km away from the lake. As it was festival time the place is little crowded. And there also people are throwing plastic bags and wrapper here n there rather putting them in the crash tin. Its a request to all the reader, please don't throw plastic or cigarette butt in the hill stations at least.
While reaching Ramnagar it was almost 9 PM so thought of doing a night halt there. We managed to come 170 km on the hills. It's a small town with some lodges on the road side. As the govt. guesthouse was fully occupied have look for lodges around there. It's really hard to find a good/clean hotel/lodge around there. Finally stayed on a little unhygienic one as we fed of searching for a clean one. Sometimes this type of condition happens for such type of trip in India but its manageable.
Day3:
-------
Only breakfast available in that area are omelet and maggi, so we go with omelet. After having breakfast we started for Nainital which is around 70 km from there. Road was good but in the hills there and we managed to reach Nainital around 11 Am and searched a good hotel on the Mall road and in the peak of the town. Had a lavish lunch there in a black cafe in the Mall road named Cafe-De-Mall, a good restaurant indeed.
There is a small evening market near to Naina devi mandir in Nainital. Mostly it was filled with winter clothes for ladies. I bought some winter clothes for my niece there which she liked a lot later. Its the biggest hill stations in India till visited for me. This hill station was formerly a British hill station before Independence, so you will found many old structures in the market area it self as well as in the residential areas.
The city is also having a big high court just after the mall road which is also looks like heritage. I never visited Shimla but its better than Mussoorie and Manali as a city. Manali is better for adventurous activity but little polluted. Nainital is also getting polluted bcoz of plastic, wrappers and less infrastructure for public convenience. Anyway trip's last night came by this and we loved the city and places around it.

Day4:
-------
It was time to say goodbye to Nainital and Naina devi. We were really on good/jolly mood by coming here after Lansdowne. As all the parking inside the city was packed we parked our car little far from the Mall road. The day was sunny and the mix of cool breeze with clear sun giving sweet pinching to skins. After having heavy breakfast we signed off from the hills. As the road condition was better it hardly took much time to reach foot of the hill.

The
view from the top of the mountain was breath taking. You can many
mountain range from the top point, some are covered with snow, some are
with tree and some are naked.
We wrapped up our visit to the top for 30 mins or less and started our journey towards Nainital as planned around 12 PM.
While reaching Ramnagar it was almost 9 PM so thought of doing a night halt there. We managed to come 170 km on the hills. It's a small town with some lodges on the road side. Nainital lake |
After
having lunch we roam around the city. Visited one old church in the
mall road only. Its really quite inside out, as expected. Then we three
opted for a pedal boat there as the lake in Nainital is a big one as
compared to Lansdowne and too crowded too. We had a great fun inside the
lake in the boat. As evening approached in the hill it turns cold but
not chilled.

mall road, Nainital |
We
took the Najibabad road as its far better than the other. We reached
Najibabad around 2 Pm and had our lunch in the outskirt dhaba. The lunch
was great inside the hut as they don't store cooked food in there. It
took some time to get but ultimately you will get good quality.
By
the time we left Najibabad and the hills the same traffic and dust were
waiting for us. It made suffocation inside the air conditioned car too.
Anyway always the return trip used to felt like that so plan your long
trips like you should visit some places in the return so you wont feel
that bad.
Another
trip but a different trip came to an end while reached Delhi around 7
PM. Nothing else came to mind rather than my bed as next day is The
Monday....
See you in the next ride/trip till then ride safe, wear helmet/ seat belt even if riding in the small streets and stay happy.
